DC Jammu chairs District Road Safety Committee meeting Calls for creating mass awareness about Road Safety rules



JAMMU: To formulate the Action Plan for Road Safety measures and to decongest City and ensure smooth traffic flow in the district, Deputy Commissioner Anshul Garg today chaired a meeting of District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) here at DC office complex.


The meeting held threadbare deliberations with regard to management of Traffic, including identification of black spots, removal of road side objects that distract drivers, creating awareness about road safety rules through print and electronic media, improvement of lighting on vital roads, Traffic Management System, Critical Care Ambulances etc.


The DC stressed upon all the stakeholder departments to be proactive in formulating a comprehensive Road Safety Action Plan on priority basis. He stressed on the concerned officers to take all required measures to decongest the City roads for smooth flow of traffic.


The DC further instructed to remove roadside objects that hinder smooth traffic or distract drivers while driving.


The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned official from the Information Department to ensure mass awareness of traffic rules and regulations through print and electronic media.


He also stressed on repairing black spots, initiating remedial measures, installation of signages and painting of roads at appropriate spots and installation of High Security Number Plates by owners of vehicles.


The Deputy Commissioner also directed the concerned departments to ensure that school buses and other vehicles engaged in transportation of children must comply with all the traffic rules.


The Deputy Commissioner directed all the members to make coordinated efforts to ensure safety on roads and prompt emergency care.


SSP Traffic Koushal Sharma, ADC Satish Sharma besides senior officers of the concerned departments were present in the meeting.



DC Jammu reviews performance under B2V3, Capex Plan including DDC, BDC, PRI components


JAMMU, AUGUST 27: Deputy Commissioner Anshul Garg today reviewed the progress of   ongoing/new works proposed under B2V3, Pradhan Mantari Awaz Yojna- Gramin, besides District Capex Budget plan including DDC, BDC and PRI components.


At the outset, threadbare discussion was held on the progress of developmental projects undertaken by Rural Development to cater to the developmental needs of the district with focus on strengthening grassroots level democracy.


The concerned official apprised the Chair that 452 works under different RDD schemes have been approved   of which 443 have been tendered, 191 have been allotted, 151 started and 62 completed.


It was also informed that other than RDD, 35 works including 14 of PWD, 15 of PDD and 6 of PHE have been proposed of which 29 have been tendered, 22 allotted, 10 started and 7 completed.


Regarding  PMAY-G scheme , the meeting was told that 5272 beneficiaries were registered out of which 4499 houses have been completed in all respects. 


Similarly, under the District Capex Budget- 2021-2022, a total 132 works have been proposed under the DDC plan, 206 works under the BDC plan and 3704 under the PRI plan.


 Speaking on the occasion, the DC stressed on the concerned authorities to take all possible measures to accelerate the pace of the ongoing works on different projects for their time-bound completion.


 He also cautioned that any laxity in completing the works within the fixed timeline will not be tolerated at all.


The Deputy Commissioner exhorted for mobilizing adequate men and machinery for completing the projects and productive and fruitful utilization of the available resources.


ACD Ashok Choudhary; CPO Yoginder Katoch,   besides senior officers of the concerned departments such as PWD, RDD, PMGSY were present in the meeting.


JDA seals illegal constructions in Lower Roop Nagar area


JAMMU, AUGUST 27: Jammu Development Authority (JDA) today conducted an anti-encroachment drive and sealed illegal constructions on JDA land here in Lower Roop Nagar area.


The illegal constructions sealed by the Authority include two residential structures, five shops and one residential house constructed on JDA land falling under Kh.no. 346 min village Paloura tehsil Jammu North.


The concerned tehsildar and Enforcement Wing JDA conducted the drive with assistance of Police under the overall supervision of Vice Chairman JDA. Acting firmly against the encroachers/land grabbers, the JDA conducted the drive successfully amid odds created by some elements.


A clear warning was also given by the Authority to perpetrators to refrain from encroaching/interfering into JDA lands and  informed that such drives will be conducted in future with more intensity.



Rs 12000 penalty recovered from CAB violators in Samba


SAMBA, AUGUST 27: District Administration Samba under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta, today carried out multiple inspections in market area of Samba town and imposed penalties on covid norms violators.


The Joint enforcement team led by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Rajeev Magotra conducted the inspection in the main market area including the Main Stop Bus Stand and other prominent locations. A total Rs  12000 fine was recovered from 44 violators. "Covid Appropriate behaviour including social distancing, wearing face masks, sanitization facility at business establishments, plying of commercial vehicles with 50% passengers has been made mandatory in district samba and to ensure adherence to these guidelines a joint inspection was carried out" informed the ACR

The Joint enforcement team comprised DySP HQ, T R Bhardhwaj; Tehsidar Rampaul, SHO Samba besides other field officials of Revenue and police departments.
