Closing of crossing at SIDCO Chowk in Samba: An act without homework!!!
The crossing at the SIDCO Chowk Samba on national highway 44 is closed by the national highway authority of India recently thus making it impossible to cross the large truck & Trallas coming from Jammu to enter in the SIDCO Industrial Complex & also the vehicles coming/going from ahead of BDO Block Samba towards Jammu to take turn & come on the NH 44 back to enter in Samba town.
From the first look it seems that it is an act by the authority without doing any homework. This closing of the crossing poses a difficult situation for the people of the Samba as the road/by lane on the left side while going to Jammu from Samba has many commercial centres like BDO office, Indian Oil Petrol Pump, Mansar Gas Agency Godown, Punjab National Bank, Usha Electronics, Sabzi Mandi, Union Bank, LIC, State Bank of India, Bharat Petrol Pump etc.; If we l say that it is the commercial hub of Samba town it is not an exaggeration and daily hundreds of person visit at these places especially in PNB Bank, Union Bank, State Bank of India, LIC office and the petrol pumps that comes in between them.
Now after visiting these commercial places earlier they have to take their turn from SIDCO Crossing and again enter in Samba but due to closing of this crossing they now have to go near Mansar Morh and have to use the crossing there which is underneath the flyover and is somewhat dangerous as the vehicles from Jammu side comes very fast and the curve is blind. It also give them an extra burden of fuel and extra distance of nearly about 2 km.
Not only this situation is more cumbersome for industrial units because the trucks that are coming from Jammu, as the can't use the SIDCO road crossing, they have to enter in Samba and use the first from Hungry Point Restaurant and have to use the by lane to go to SIDCO industrial complex and as this road/ by lane is not so wide after Indian Oil Petrol Pump so their is always situation of jam on this bylane. Moreover the autos that are that are coming from the sabji mandi they have to avoid 2 km extra distance and take the route back from Sabji Mandi to Samba thus causing more disturbance and more jam like situation. It was earlier better that the trucks that were coming from SIDCO came directly on the national highway from the SIDCO chowk and the people of Samba also used this crossing to enter in Samba.
So it appears that the step taken by the national highway authority is taken without any homework and it is source of disturbance and misery for the people of Samba. So it's our appeal to district administration Samba especially DC Samba who is known for her people friendly approach & work ethics to kindly intervene in the matter so that people of Samba may take a seigh of relief.
