In his speech on the occasion, Benam Tosh said that militancy is still causing hurdles in the path of development in J&K and the time has come to completely wipe out militancy towards the end of which J&K police, assisted by other security agencies and Army, is heading steadily with enthusiasm. "The day is not far away when J&K will be free from the malaise of terrorism and bloodshed. Some elements are still hell bent to carry out disruptive activities. vitiating atmosphere and creating terror among peaceful people, but their nefarious designs are being thavarted with quick befitting response. The local militants should shun the terrorist activities, surrender before the nation, save their ownselves and live like other citizens of the country", Benam Tosh further said.
While giving partial reference to the sacrifices of J&K Police vis-a-vis maintenance of internal security and fight against militancy, SSP told that hundreds of Police officials have laid down their precious lives for the sake of the nation in line of duty during the past over thirty years of turmoil in J&K to whom nation is indebted and will always remember and salute them for their supreme sacrifices made in the national interest. It is due to them that the militancy has been weeded out from most of the earlier hypersensitive areas of J&K and residual handful of anti national elements are being neutralized with effective strategy.
SSP Benam Tosh told that in the world's biggest democracy Le India, the biggest constitution of the world came into effect on 26th of January 1950 and as Indian constitution is flexible, several amendments following proper procedure have been effected in the interest of the nation & the people as and when required and great many reforms in the Government and administrative functioning have been brought about over the period. After 5th of August 2019. J&K also got accustomed to constructive changes in the overall functioning. Although it was no easy task for J&K Police to abruptly switch over from Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) to Indian Penal Code (IPC), yet police did it without any special course and immediately started registering FIRS and conducting investigations under IPC instead of RPC. "Entire staff of Police Stations and Police Posts especially MHCs and LOs deserve special appreciations for efficient display of professionalism in the hour of historical change", he said.
March past was followed by well organized cultural programme amid mesmerizing patriotic songs & "Jai Hind"/ "Bharat Mata ki Jai" slogans as part of RD celebrations remained centre of attraction. At the end of the national function, rewards/ trophies were given away amid great applause.
