Samba, April 8 : Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh today presided over police-public meet at border village Glar situated in Samba sector which was attended by hundreds of people including ladies, retired officers of Army, Revenue, Education Department, prominent citizens and common public. SSP was accompanied by Joint Director Prosecution Pawan Khajuria, Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary, DySP DAR Ajay Anand, SHO police station Samba Rajeshwar Singh and Incharge Police Post Rakh Amb Tali Vineet Singh.
Those who spoke on the occasion on behalf of the public were Col.(Retd.) Som Dutt, Headmaster (Retd.) Sat Paul Sharma, Naib Tehsildar (Retd.) Jagdish Raj Sharma, ex-panch Ms. Raj Kumari, ex-servicemen League convener Surjit Singh (Bittu Fouji), District President Kissan Morcha Mohinder Paul and Garu Ram.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Samba Benam Tosh said that police would organize sports events, cultural activities and anti drug awareness competitions in border villages with a view to orient youth towards constructive activities rather than indulging in drug addiction. He further said that police is conducting inquest proceedings with sincerity and dedication u/s 174 CrPC into the suspicious death of a person whose dead body was found alongside the road passing through the crop fields few days ago. Medical report and FSL report are awaited, he told. He directed the officers to maintain updated records of all immigrants & emigrants and take necessary action under law against those who fail to provide information to concerned Police Station / PP regarding tenants putting up at their homes. He said that he remains in direct touch with lower subordinates breaking all proper channels as far as matters pertaining to investigations are concerned so that no lacuna is left in the investigation of any case. SSP appreciated the role of police in Samba district vis-a-vis public dealings and reiterated that Police public meets would be continued across the district to bring police at the doorsteps of masses.
Earlier in the day, SSP, Joint Director Prosecution, Addl. SP, DySP, SHO and IC PP concerned visited the site where dead body of a person belonging to village Glar was found under suspicious circumstances few days ago. SSP along with other officers also visited the house of deceased and expressed deep condolences.
