IRP ORGANISED AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON DRUG ABUSE FOR KATHUA STUDENTS: "FIRM DETERMINATION MUST TO STAY AWAY FROM DRUGS": SSP BENAM TOSH



Kathua: IRP 19th Battalion organized awareness programme at Govt Higher Secondary School Jakhbar Kathua in which hundreds of students, teachers & Lecturers participated and interacted with the Police officers. SSP Benam Tosh Commandant IRP 19th Bn, SP Santokh Raj, SP Dewakar Singh, Principal GHSS Jakhbar, Devinder Paul Singh, Vice Principal, Satish Chandel, Deputy SP Updesh Kumar, Deputy SP Deepak Tufchi, Senior Lecturer Davinder Kour, Lecturer Surinder Kumar, SI Pallavi Rajput and international player SI Tarun Gandotra delivered lectures and sensitized students regarding dangerous malaise of drug abuse. 

  Senior Superintendent of Police Benam Tosh administered the pledge of staying away from drug abuse with firm determination to the students who got excited and enthusiastic after taking the pledge against drug abuse first time in their School in the presence of their teachers.

     Position holders and other students who have excelled in sports, cultural and other extra curricular activities were also honoured by the officers amid emotional applause. On their arrival for creating awareness against drugs abuse, the students and faculty members headed by the Principal of the Govt HSS Jakhbar accorded arousing welcome to the Commandant, Deputy Commandants and other officers of IRP-19th Bn.

    Speaking on the occasion, SSP Benam Tosh exhorted the students to stay away from drugs with firm determination and to avoid company of drugs addicts & drug peddlers. Benam Tosh further said that drug abuse is leading to the increase in cases of depression, suicides, murders and other crimes in the society and therefore need of the hour is to get rid of this curse sooner than later. All social activists, thinkers, prominent citizens, PRIS, Lambardars, Choukidars, Administrators, educationists and Police officers should join hands to save the youth, especially the students, who have not hitherto fallen prey to drugs addiction, he added. Benam Tosh told the students that 21 years ago when he was Deputy SP, he had personally led 76 students of different schools of Kathua on Bharat Darshan and that he had travelled far and wide in Kathua district, visited several schools and colleges in Kathua as part of anti drugs awareness campaign during his tenure as DySP operations Kathua and Additional SP Kathua. He asserted that drug menance can be effectively countered and towards that end. IRP-19th Bn will create awareness among the students and youth in all the blocks and tehsils of Kathua district.
