Jammu: A written complaint was lodged at P/S Nowabad by one lady namely Dr. Karishma Kapoor stating that near flyover, Jewel she was told by some unknown person that her phone has been dropped behind while riding scooty so she got off from the scooty to look behind. On this, thief stole the gold and silver ornaments from her purse which was hung with the scooty handle and fled away.
On this a case FIR No 188/2021 U/s 379 IPC got registered at P/S Nowabad and investigation started. After this special police teams of P/S Nowabad were constituted by Dy.S.P. Hqtr Swati Sharma. The team led by SHO P/S Nowabad Insptr Rajesh Khajuria assisted by I/C PP Canal Road SI Ravinder Singh did strenuous efforts and with the help of CCTV footages of the area finally rounded up a suspect namely Ravi Sharma S/O Parkash Sharma R/o Rangpur Basti A/P RS Pura Jammu.
During intensive questioning, accused confessed his involvement in the above case and on his disclosure gold ornaments weighing 313 gms and silver ornaments weighing 121 gms worth more than Rs 15 lakhs were recovered from his possession.The overall arrest and recoveries were made under the supervision of SP North Mohita sharma, IPS.
Further investigation of the case is going on to ascertain involvement of accused in other crimes.
