Feb.19 Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is all set to make a major reshuffle in the Jammu and Kashmir Police administration for the first time post abrogation of special status and bifurcation of the erstwhile state into two Union Territories.
Top sources revealed that there will be major reshuffle in the police administration in J&K and DGP, IGP rank officers, several SSP’s and Sp’s will get new place of posting soon.
“The exercise for a massive reshuffle in police administration has been set into motion with the proposals being processed and finalized for the transfer of senior IPS officers holding key positions in the J&K Police. The process for deputation of several senior officers and return of some others from centre deputation to J&K Police, have been set into motion,” sources said.
The Director General of Police Jammu and Kashmir Dilbagh Singh is all set to join next posting as Central government on last Thursday cleared the empanelment of 29 Indian Police Service officers to hold Director General level or equivalent posts across the country in different departments. These officers are from 1985, 1986, 1987 and 1988 batches. The empanelment of these officers for DG-level and equivalent posts is considered by a Selection Committee comprising the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister, the Cabinet Secretary, the Home Secretary, the Secretary (Personnel) and the Director of Intelligence Bureau.
Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh, a 1987-batch Jammu and Kashmir cadre officer is also in the list.
Reliable sources told that Dr. B Sriniwas (IPS) (JK-90) Commandant General, HG/CD/SDRF J&K with additional Charge Director Fire & Emergency Services and V. K. Singh (RR-87) DGP Prisons J&K are among the new faces for the new DGP of J&K UT. Sources said that the new DGP will likely assume office in the first week of March.
Sources said that Alok Pouri and Gareeb Dass will get new postings of IGP’s in Jammu and Kashmir respectively. Sources added that the Ministry of Home Affairs have shortlisted the selection process of DGP and other officers holding key posts and the process will be finalized this week.
They said that district SSP’s list is also being finalized in coming days adding that Srinagar, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Kathua, SSP Crime Branch Kashmir and SP’s from Awantipora, Sopore, SP East and North of Srinagar city and SSP Cyber Crime Kashmir are among are likely to get transferred.
