Police Martyrs Memorial Cricket tournament concluded with finale


Samba, 05th March, 2021

Concluding with ongoing series of events under Civic Action Programmes, today on 05-03-2021, Samba Police concluded the finale of “Police Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament” palyed at  Gurha Slathia Sports Stadium, Vijaypur where two finals were played and Rajput Women Cricket  Club-Gurha Slathia & Vijaypur Cricket Club emerged as winners of the tournament in both Girls and Boys Categories respectively.

The event was concluded by, Shri. Rajesh Sharma-JKPS, SSP Samba accompanied by Shri. Ajaz Zargar-Addl.SP, Dr. Love Karan Taneja-SDPO Vijaypur, Sh Om Parkash-SHO Vijaypur, Sh. Sudarshan Singh Slathia-DDC Member, Sarpanch Gurha Slathia,members of Guidance & Counselling Cell for Youth Development Gurha Slathia, Media fraternity and other dignitaries also witnessed the occasion.

In above said Cricket tournament, 08 boys  and 04 girls team from across District Samba had participated and the matches were played in a highly professional manner with the collaboration  of Guidance and Counselling Cell for Youth Development Gurha Slathia, Samba.

Final match of Girls Team was played between Rajput Women Cricket Club Gurha Slathia Vs Ramgarh Women Cricket Club, at Gurha Slathia Sports Stadium, Vijaypur. Rajput Women Cricket Club Gurha Slathia clinched the Police Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament   by winning the match by 08 wickets.

Whereas, Final match of Boys Team was played between NCC Gurha Slathia Vs Vijaypur Cricket Club, at  Sports Stadium Gurha Slathia, Vijaypur. Vijaypur Cricket Club won the Tournament match by 88 runs.

While speaking on the occasion, the SSP Samba said that organizing this tournament was an effort of Samba Police to channelize the energy of youth in positive direction and build a better society by keeping our youths away from drugs and other social evils. He further added that this Cricket tournament was organized in the loving memory of J&K Police Martyrs who had made supreme sacrifice of their lives in the line of duty.  He said that it was a special feeling to witness the final match with players displaying the skills of high standards.

Later, prize distribution function was held in which trophies, medals, cricket kits were presented to winner & runner-up teams, cash prizes to the winner teams, runner up teams  were also presented by the Chief Guest SSP Samba . Moreover mementos were also presented to the Umpires and other field staff for their support during the matches.

 Lastly event culminated with refreshment/lunch for all the guests/participants.

Mandi Thalora FC beats United Kathua FC 4 by 2 in Penalty Shoot out in Thalora Football League quarter finals. In a very interesting match which held the breath of the spectators, Mandi Thalora FC beats United Kathua FC 4 by 2 in Penalty Shoot out. In the first half of the match Abhishek Sambyal captain of FC Mandi Thalora made a goal which was equalled by FC United Kathua. Again in the 2nd half of the match on a fantastic pass Abhishek Sambyal again made a goal which was again equalized by FC United Kathua in the last minutes of the match. Now is the turn of Penalty shootout, in which Goal keeper of FC Mandi Thalora Anant Singh is able to stop one penalty and two others were out of goal post and Mandi Thalora made 4 penalties in the goal post and won the match. Earlier Youth For Society Chairman Rahul Sambyal (Chief Guest) along with other dignitaries Anil Singh (Bitta Paiya) Rajeev Sambyal (Bintu Paiya) friend Sameer Singh Sambyal from Mandi Kheli and Vishal Dev Singh Sambyal, Ranbir Rajput etc had an introduction with both the teams. Mr Rahul Sambyal said such leagues make the youth fit and healthy and keep them away from drugs. In the last he was full praise for both the teams and also rewarded the winning team captain and goalkeeper. Large crowd came to watch the match.
