SSP SAMBA BENAM TOSH PRESENTS PRIZES TO THE PLAYERS AT CLOSING CEREMONY OF CRICKET C’SHIP ORGANIZED BY POLICE



Samba, June 2 : A grand closing ceremony of cricket championship was organized by Samba Police today under Civic Action Programme (CAP) at Baba Hasal Dev Ji Stadium Gurha Slathia in the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur where SSP Samba Benam Tosh accompanied by Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary, Deputy SP DAR Ajay Anand, Deputy SP Garu Ram Bhardwaj and SHO Vijaypur Tribhawan Khajuria presented cash rewards amounting to sixty thousand rupees along with certificates to the players in the presence of PRIs and prominent citizens of the area.

Among the prominent persons who spoke on the occasion and thanked the J&K Police for organizing sports event were : DDC member Sudarshan Singh Slathia, Sarpanch Jatinder Singh, renowned social activist Veer Pratap Singh and social activist Pankaj Singh Slathia.

In the tournament, total 8 cricket teams viz Garh Mandi-A, Garh Mandi-B, Udh Mandi–A, Udh Mandi-B, Grota Mandi, Sani Mandi, Poali Mand and Andradh Mandi had participated with great enthusiasm. The cricket tournament was played on knock out basis in a professional manner.

The final match of cricket championship was played between Udh Mandi-A and Andradh Mandi in which team Udh Mandi-A under the captionship of Shishu Pal Singh Slathia emerged as overall winner whereas team Andradh Mandi under the captionship of Nitish Slathia stood as runner up in the tournament.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Samba Benam Tosh said that J&K Police intends to groom the youth by way of organizing variety of sports events and other activities so that they become better citizens of the country and contribute towards the nation in better way instead of deviating from the right path. SSP Samba further said that police has decided to make samba district drug free and police is committed to achieve the target anytime soon. J&K Police has the capability, capacity and calibre to overcome any challenge posed by the anti-social and anti-national elements and will never give up their efforts under adverse situations, he added. SSP Samba advised the players to keep drug peddlers at an arm’s length  and proceed ahead to achieve goals in life. He informed that more and more such sports and other events would be organized at Gurha Slathia and adjoining areas in the interest of the youth and students. Referring to the historical contribution of the brave peoples of the Gurha Slathia, Benam Tosh said that able son of Gurha Slathia has been successful in scaling Mt. Everest and others have made tremendous contribution to the nation by occupying top positions in the Army, PMF & Police and all of them wish the youngsters to follow their footsteps and stay away from drugs.
