Samba, May 11 : Police has successfully foiled bovine smuggling attempt during the intervening night at naka Nud in the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba, arrested two (02) bovine smugglers, rescued 16 bovine animals and seized vehicle used for smuggling.
The arrested smugglers have been identified as Nisar Ahmed s/o Gulam Qadir r/o Shangus district Anantnag and Yasir Awan s/o Mohd. Yousaf Awan r/o Qazikund district Anantnag.
In this regard, FIR under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation is in progress.
Bovines were rescued by a police team comprising of SHO PS Samba Rajeshwar Singh and ASI Ashok Kumar under the supervision of DySP Garu Ram Bhardwaj and Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary.
Total fifty two (52) notorious bovine smugglers have been arrested by Samba Police in four months after launch of special drive against smugglers of all kinds in Samba district on the directions of SSP Samba Benam Tosh, forty eight (48) FIRs have been registered against bovine smugglers, thirty nine (39) vehicles used for bovine smuggling have been seized and five hundred six (506) bovine animals have been rescued in Samba district.
