The proposed meeting of the G-20 Tourism Working Group in Srinagar from May 22 to 24 has high hopes for tourism stakeholders in the Kashmir Valley. They believe that if this will give a boost to the tourism sector, then European Union (EU) countries and America will pave the way for ending the travel advisory made for Jammu and Kashmir. This advisory has been in force since the 1990s. Syed Abid Rashid, Secretary, Tourism, Jammu and Kashmir Administration, said that there is peace in the Kashmir Valley and there are instances where European countries are discussing lifting the travel advisory. He said that as a tourism stakeholder, he welcomes the G-20 event.
