DGP J&K DILBAG SINGH LAUNCHED PLANTATION DRIVE AND GAVE AWAY REWARDS AMOUNTING TO RS. 86 THOUSAND & CASH TROPHIES TO 11 CULTURAL TEAMS OFSTUDENTS AND CIVILIANS: GRAND PROGRAMME ON RELIGIOUS HARMONY-CUM-PLANTATION ORGANIZED BY IRP-19TH BATTALIONAT KATHUA







Kathua: Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Sing-IPS today as chief guest attended the mega programme on" Religious Harmony-cum-Plantation" organized by IRP-19th battalion as part of "Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav under CAP at battalion headquarters Kathua, launched plantation drive by planting a banyan tree and gave away cash rewards amounting to rupees eighty six thousand & trophies to 11 cultural teams of students and civilians who participated in the grand event. Students of 10 Schools and Colleges of Kathua district including NCC cadets and NSS volunteers, besides civil cultural teams representing different communities, different regions and different cultures participated in the first ever grand programme on " Religious Harmony" organized in district kathua by IRP. Hundreds of prominent civilians from all walks of life including reputed media persons, renowned educationists & noted social activists were also present on the occasion.

DGP J&K Dilbag Singh flanked by SSP Benam Tosh Commandant IRP-19th Bn, SSP Roop Raj Bhagat Principal PTS Kathua, SSP Kathua Romesh Kotwal, SSP Ranjit Singh, Addl.SP Kathua Suresh Singh Chib, SP Dewaker Singh Dy.Commandant IRP-19th Bn. DySP Hors Kathua Shammi Kumar launched a plantation drive by planting a banyan tree in the presence of officials of NGO Sanjeevani Jan Kalyan who donated trees free of cost to J&K Police on the occasion including its Chairman Army Havaldar Retd. Khajur Singh, district president Dr.Rakesh Kumar, Sr.advisor Sandoor Singh, regional president Parbhat Singh and Sr.advisor Sagar Singh. The DGP also presented trophy as token of thanks and affection to NGO officials.

SSP Benam Tosh Commandant IRP 19th Bn welcomed Director General of Police J&K,other officers and prominent citizens and all other cultural teams including national Dogra cultural team led by Zonal Education officer Ramnagar & popular artist Romalu Ram who presented mesmerizing cultural item, Gojree team led by Mohd Yaqoob of kathua, Punjabi team of Govt. Girls Middle School Jakhbar and Dogri' lambi bhakhan' folksong.

DGP J&K Dilbag Singh-IPS who attended the function as chief guest amid adverse rainy weather conditions, while speaking on the occasion, bestowed his blessings upon all the students of 10 Schools & Colleges and gave well wishes to the cultural teams who contributed towards making it a historic function by presenting items relevant to the theme of religious harmony. DGP further said that all members of society irrespective of region, religion, or creed should live in harmony helping one-another in the hour of distress & crisis and there should be no quarrel between people of different religions." Great human values are required to be infused into the youth especially the students and all out efforts should be made by the society,schools and police to sensitize students and youth against drug abuse which has become an ugly malaise in present day society", the DGP J&K advised. Replying to the questions of the media persons DGP Dilbag Singh said that J&K Police, Para Military Forces and Army are working hard to provide safe and secure atmosphere during ongoing Amarnath yatra and are ready to cope with future challenges on all fronts.
