Kathua: 75th Independence Day was celebrated with national fervour at IRP 29th Battalion Fadquarters Kathua jn which commandant IRP 19 SSP Benam Tosh hosted the national flag and took salute in the presence of SP Santokh Raj, Deputy SP Kuldeep Raj Tripathi and other senior officers.
In his inspiring speech on the occasion, Benam Tosh exhorted the Police Jawans to thwart the nefarious designs of the anti national elements, wipe out miltancy and eradicate corruption. He said insane elements are hell bent to carry out disruptive activities, vitiating atmosphere and creating terror among peaceful people but their ill intentions will not be matrue till end, he said adding that malaise of corruption is not yet over in spite of efforts and police should tighten nouse against corrupt elements in the society.
While giving partial reference to the sacrifices of 18K Police while mantenance of internal security and fight against militancy, He told that hundred of Police officials have laid down the precious lives for the sake of the nation in the the past over thirty years of turmoil in J&K and their sacrifices will always be remember and he salute them for their supreme sacrifices made in the national interest. It is due to them that the militancy has been wiped out of the UT and hundreds of terrorists are being neutralized with effective strategy.
SSP Benam Tosh told that it was his pleasure to lead one full battalion especially to maintain law & order in Kargil & Leh district of Ladah on the eve of abrogation of Art 370 in August 2019 and good luck to function as Parade Commander of J&K's main national parades seven times at Srinagar between 2018-21 asCO IRP 17 BN. He advived the officers to study Infian Constitution of India and follow fundamental duties enshrined in it. "We are citizens of India first and then Police officials. We should be proud of being the citizens of India, he said while inspiring the Jawans.
March past was followed by well organized cultural programme, mesmerizing patriotic songs & Jai Hind slogans as part of ID celebration. At the end of the national function, rewards/trophies were given away amid big applaces to the best performers
