Samba, June 16 : Under the guidance of SSP Samba Benam Tosh, Police has arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered heroin ('chitta') worth rupees 15,000.00 approximately from his possession.
The arrested drug peddler has been identified as Aman Kumar Sharma s/o Pawan Kumar Sharma r/o Katra. A case FIR No. 139/2023 u/s 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana and further investigation is going on.
Accused Aman used to collect heroine (‘chitta’) from Bari Brahmana area and he has been nabbed by police when he was coming out of infamous hotspot after collecting heroin, as police has intensified patrolling to apprehend heroine suppliers operating in the heroine-infested areas of Samba District.
The drug peddler has been arrested by police team comprising of SHO Police Station Bari Brahmana Sunil Sharma and PSI Rajat Sharma under the supervision of SDPO Bari Brahmana Rahul Nagar and Additonal SP Samba Surinder Choudhary.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh said that a total of fifty (50) notorious narco-suppliers/smugglers including top inter-state heroine smugglers have been arrested in five months in district Samba and several others have been booked under relevant sections of NDPS Act in different FIRs. Two notorious heroine suppliers have also been detained and lodged in Jail under PITNDPS Act, 1988. Stringent legal action against heroine smugglers, suppliers & peddlers is underway and police is determined to eradicate heroine menace from samba district once for all.
