Jammu-Kashmir High Court will shift to Raika in Bahu area, Justice DY Chandrachud will lay the foundation stone

Years-long tussle over Janipur-based Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh being shifted to Raika in the Bahu region has come to an end.  The National Green Tribunal has given permission to cut the forest and build a building in Raika.  After getting the green signal from the tribunal, the process of construction of the High Court building has been started and on June 28, the Chief Justice of the country Justice DY Chandrachud will lay its foundation stone.  This new court complex will be one of the best High Courts in the country.  It will be designed by renowned architect Guneet Singh Chauhan.  Let us tell you that the court building will be built in the Bahu Raika dense forest spread over an area of 19 square km of land in Jammu East near Sidhda Bypass.  There are more than 38 thousand trees.  Apart from this, there are hundreds of species of animals and birds. Some organizations had filed an appeal in the National Green Tribunal against the cutting of trees in Raika.  The case was in the court against the order of approval of forest land for the High Court complex.  Its decision has come in favor of the High Court.  The transfer of 40 hectares of land was approved in 2019.  Its construction will be supervised by the judges of the High Court through the J&K Project Construction Corporation and the Public Works Department.
