Former MP Thupstan Chhiwang met the Home Ministry, said- Center also wants talks on Ladakh issues

Founder member of Ladakh Apex Body and former MP Thupstan Chhiwang, who returned after meeting the Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi, has said that the central government also wants the process of talks on Ladakh issues to start soon.  There is every hope that positive results will emerge from the talks with the Ministry of Home Affairs.  Chhiwang, who returned from Delhi on Wednesday, reached Leh's NDS grounds to meet environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk, who is fasting on the issues of Ladakh. Talking to reporters, he said that we raised our four issues in the meeting.  Talks were not happening for two years, in such a situation, we also want that the process of talks should go ahead.  The Home Ministry also wants the same.  Chhiwang said that we had objections regarding the High Power Committee formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs in this regard.  In such a situation, we have now made it clear in the meeting with Minister of State for Home Nityanand in Delhi that the High Power Committee should have only members of Ladakh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance.  And we will give the names of the members of the committee. What is the demand?

The representatives of Ladakh started the process of talks with the Ministry of Home Affairs on June 19 in Delhi regarding their issues.  In a meeting with Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand, a six-member delegation of Ladakh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance raised the demand of making Ladakh a state, making the Sixth Schedule effective, giving employment soon and creating two parliamentary constituencies in Ladakh.

Among those who participated in the meeting with the Minister of State for Home, Ladakh Apex Body included former MP Thupstan Chhiwang, former ministers Tshiring Dorje and Rigzin Jora.  On the other hand, Qamar Ali Akhun, Asghar Karbalai and Sajjad Kargili participated in this meeting on behalf of the Kargil Democratic Alliance.  He stressed that the Central Government should take an early decision to fulfill the expectations of the people of Ladakh.
