*Police Organizing Awareness Programmes As Preventive Strategy To Save Students From Drug Menace : SSP Samba Benam Tosh* 


  Samba, May 30 : Police today organised awareness programme on drug abuse at Govt. Hr. Sec. School  Mansar under CAP where hundreds of students of Govt. and private schools, parents, teachers, prominent citizens and police officers witnessed the speech delivering competition. 

          SSP Samba Benam Tosh, Addl. SP Samba Surinder Choudhary, DySP DAR Samba Ajay Anand, Inspr Rajesh Kumar and Chouki Officer Mansar Deepak Sharma presented certificates and cash rewards of rupees 12000.00, 8000.00 and 5000.00 to the first, second and third best student speakers respectively, whereas five other student speakers were also felicitated with certificates & cash rewards of rupees 2000.00 each. 

         At the speech delivering competition on anti-drugs, students namely Sherya of GHSS Mansar, Shipali Sharma of GHSS Mansar and Usha Rani of GMS Channi bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively, while students namely Baby Verma of GMS Channi, Vasudev Sharma of Janta Academy Mansar, Priyanshi of GHSS Mansar, Piyush Gupta of GHSS Mansar and Bhawani Devi of GPS Mansar received consolation prizes.   

Hundreds of students of Govt. Higher Secondary School Mansar, Govt. Middle School Mansar, Govt. Middle School Channi, Govt. Primary School Mansar, Janta Academy Channi, and other nearby schools participated in today’s anti-drug awareness programme organized by J&K Police. 

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Surinsar Mansar Development Authority Ved Parkash, DDC member Amit Sharma, Principal Govt. Higher Secondary School Mansar Charu Anand, BDO Majalta Vishal Sadotra, Sarpanch Mansar Sunita Sharma, Sarpanch Showket Ali and teacher Govt. Middle School Mansar Anjali Gupta thanked the police for organizing grand anti-drug awareness programmes at Mansar to generate awareness among students and public against drug abuse. Additional SP Samba also spoke on the occasion and asked youth to stay away from narcotic substances. 

On the occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh said that police is organizing awareness programmes at the schools & colleges as preventive strategy to save students from drug menace, even as stringent legal action against drug suppliers, smugglers and peddlers is underway and drug de-addiction of addicted youth is  also being advised by police at Drug De-addiction Centres. Benam Tosh further said that determination is required to be inculcated in the students to stay away from drug abuse. SSP Samba said that it is responsibility of every citizen to contribute towards providing drug free environment in nativity and to inform police regarding illegal activities of drug peddlers. He reiterated that the anti-drug awareness programmes would be continued to be organized at different places apart from legal battle against drug suppliers till drug menace is completely wiped out.
