Jammu and Kashmir: Disaster recovery center to be built outside the seismic zone in the state, decision in administrative council meeting

Disaster recovery center will be set up outside the Jammu and Kashmir seismic zone.  This center will be maintained for five years.  This project has been conceived as a part of the adoption and introduction of e-office software in all major departments and offices.  In the administrative council meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, approval was given for the establishment of the Disaster Recovery Center.

The government's digital services including e-office are operated from servers installed at the primary site in the data center at Jammu. But setting up a disaster recovery center outside the seismic zone will provide security.  In this the data will be made secure.  It is important to have a disaster recovery plan in place to minimize disaster-related disruptions, which makes setting up a disaster recovery site an essential part of the system, especially as the entire functioning of the government goes digital.  The goal of disaster recovery planning is to quickly restore the ability to conduct government business in the event of disasters such as floods, fires, earthquakes and other adverse conditions while maintaining technical operations.  Advisor Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar, Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Principal Secretary Mandeep Kumar Bhandari were present in the meeting.
