Samba, April 12: Police concluded Cricket Championship organized under Civic Action Programme (CAP) at Border Village Mahal Shahan, Ramgarh with the impressive closing ceremony at Government High School, Mahal Shahan, Ramgarh, today where SSP Samba Benam Tosh accompanied by Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary, DySP DAR Ajay Anand, Tehsildar Ramgarh Farooq Ahmed, SHO Ramgarh Sudesh Kumar, Headmaster GHS Mahal Shahan Sunil Gupta, Srapanch Mahal Shahan Jagdish Bhatti and Sarpanch Swankha Tirath Ram presented cash rewards amounting to rupees sixty thousand along with trophies and certificates to the players.
In the tournament, total 08 cricket teams from different areas of district Samba
& Kathua participated and the tournament was played on knock out basis. Two semi-finals were played between Gho Brahmana Cricket Club Vs Shaheed Deepak Kumar Cricket Club Kalah, Warrior Cricket Club Vs Gagore Cricket Club in which Gho Brahmana Cricket Club and Gagore Cricket Club won seminal matches and reached final of the championship.
The final match of cricket championship was played between Gho Brahmana Cricket Club and Gagore Cricket Club in which team Gagore Cricket Club under the captionship of Anil Bharti emerged as overall winner whereas team Gho Brahmana Cricket Club under the captionship of Gagandeep clinched runner up trophy cash reward and certificate.
The players appreciated the role of police in organizing cricket tournament at Samba in the interest of youth.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Samba Benam Tosh congratulated all the players of all the participating teams and their friends and families for exhibiting high degree of team spirit and keen interest while playing in the field. SSP Samba further said that Samba police is simultaneously organizing several tournaments of different games at different places in the district to involve and mobilize more and more youth with a view to motivate them to shun bad company, drug abuse and indulging in crimes. Moreover, Samba Police is going to organize symposium, seminars and debates on Anti-Drug awareness topics at border areas of Ramgarh Sector very shortly and all speakers will be handsomely rewarded, SSP added.
