Samba, Feb 23: Samba Police, under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Benam Tosh, have intensified drive against narcotic suppliers and arrested one (01) more heroin peddler and recovered heroin like substance (also called 'chitta') weighing 10 gms worth rupees 50000.00 (approx.) from his possession.
The arrested heroin peddler has been identified as Sachin Kumar s/o Sham Lal r/o Rakh Dhok tehsil Jourian district Jammu A/P Beli Charana Poonch Basti (Migrant Camp) Jammu. A case FIR No. 38/2023 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at police station Bari-Barhmana and investigation started.
Accused Sachin had been indulging in heroin peddling for the last five years and was active in the areas of Samba district as well. He used to collect consignment from the interstate smugglers of heroin and used to supply the same to the individual addicts.
A police party comprising of SDPO Bari-Brahmana Rahul Nagar and SHO Bari-Brahmana Sunil Sharma under the supervision of Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary while performing patrolling duty near Shalimar Carpet Industries, Industrial area Bari Brahmana intercepted one person who was roaming in the late evening under suspicious circumstances in an auto bearing registration no. JK02CN-2580. During his personal search conducted in the presence of Executive Magistrate 1st Class, heroin like substance ('chitta') was recovered from his possession. He was immediately arrested and three wheeler Auto has also been seized by police.
In a short span of one and half month, total nine (09) notorious suppliers of heroin, including three (03) female interstate heroin smugglers, have been arrested by Samba Police and special nakas, traps & raids are regularly being conducted to nab other elements involved in narcotic trafficking & drugs supplying.
