Samba, 29th September 2021: In its drive against drug smugglers & its propagators, District Police Samba has arrested one narcotics smuggler and recovered 23 Kgs of Poppy Straw (Bhukki) at Police Naka Mansar, in the jurisdiction of PS Samba.
A Police Party of PP Mansar while performing routine vehicle checking duty at Naka Mansar, signalled to stop a Swift Car bearing Regd No. HR37D-3475 which was coming from Kashmir side and moving towards Samba via Udhampur-Mansar road.
During checking of the said vehicle, a total of 23 Kgs of Poppy Straw packed in 37 polythene bags were recovered which were concealed tactfully in a fabricated cavity to avoid being checked by the Police.
The accused has been identified as Rakesh Kumar S/o Ramesh lal R/o Jalandhar, Punjab was arrested on the spot. The contraband item along with the vehicle were seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 290/2021 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Samba and further investigation started.
