IGP Kashmir denied harassing journalists; but said due process of law is being followed while investigating a sensitive case

 J&K Police on the allegations of harrasing journalists ( 4 journalists picked for Questioning) said. An investigation in the case related to an online blog kashmirfight@wordpress.com... warranted some more scrutiny. During the course of investigation of FIR No. 82/2020 of Police Station Kothibagh, credible evidence was found which links the following persons with the mastermind behind the blog kashmirfight@wordpress.com...:Mir Hilal resident of Bemina(Journalist-TRTworld), Md Shah Abbas resident of Yaripora, Anantnag A/P Rajbagh(Freelance journalist), Azhar Qadri resident of Bemina(Journalist-The Tribune) & Showkat Motta resident of Lalbazar(former editor-in-chief of the Narrator). On the basis of the evidences collected, searches were conducted on September 8 at four different places after obtaining proper search warrants from the competent court of law. During the searches, some mobile phones, laptops & other gadgets were seized. All the above 4 persons were called for questioning & were allowed to go in the evening & directed to present themselves tomorrow. Investigation is in progress & the scrutiny of electronic gadgets is also going on. IGP Kashmir denied it to be an issue of harassing journalists but due process of law is being followed while investigating a sensitive case. He advised media fraternity not to spread false news or narrative which may amount to unnecessary interference in probe: J&K Police
