Kathua, November 11: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Om Prakash Bhagat held a public outreach programme at Block Headquarter Billawar to get first-hand account of the public grievances and also reviewed the ongoing works under Rural Development Department.
Public delegations hailing from Billawar, Mandli, Gujjroo Nagrota, Baggan, Duggain and Lohai Malhar blocks besides scores of individuals met Deputy Commissioner and projected their problems and demands related to road connectivity, potable drinking water, uninterrupted power supply and other matters of vital public significance.
The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing and assured that all their issues and demands will be taken with the concerned authorities for time bound redressal. He also issued on spot directions to the concerned departments seeking their timely intervention to redress the grievances in a time bound manner.
DC said public outreach programmes such as Block Diwas provides an important opportunity for administration to get first hand feedback directly from the people besides providing people to interact with district administration and register grievances at their doorsteps.
The Dc directed the concerned department heads for resolving the issues expeditiously and also submitting the action taken report before next scheduled block divas. He directed officers to organize awareness drives involving all PRI functionaries so that maximum people can avail benefits of welfare schemes of the government. He appealed to the youth to start ventures based on their skills under numerous schemes of agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, poultry, floriculture etc.
Meanwhile, to mark the Block Diwas, Public Grievances Redressal programmes were also held at Basohli, Bani and Hiranagar where people apprised their grievances before the sub-district and sub-division administration.
