District Development Commissioner (DDC), Samba, Rohit Khajuria today handed over motorized tricycles (scooties) to thirteen specially-abled persons of district in a specially organized programme by Department of Social Welfare here at DC office Samba.
On the occasion District Social Welfare Officer Samba, Deep Kumar, presented details about the various schemes sponsored by Social Welfare Department specially meant for the welfare of specially-abled persons including distribution of motorized Tri-cycles, wheel Chairs, tri-cycle, Pensions, locomotive assistance material (Crutches), Prosthetic aids and other benefits aswell.
DDC while addressing the specially-abled persons on the occasion said that for equitable development of our society there is a need for supporting and making suitable environment for specially able persons. He said that specially abled persons are part and parcel of our society and every endeavor should be taken in this regard to assure the well being of specially-abled persons in the district.
He also interacted with specially-abled persons and during his speech, he hailed the efforts of Social Welfare Department towards socio-economic welfare of different sections of the society and also complimented the department for organizing the motorized tricycle distribution camp amid COVID-19 pandemic.
The beneficiaries included Sushil kumar s/o sardari lal, Vikey s/o jaggatar ram, som dutt s/o jabro ram, jai Ram Sharma s/o bhishan dass, deepak gupta s/o vijay kumar, altaf Hussain s/o haji Younis, Jagdish Sharma s/o Fateh sharma, sat paul s/o mansa ram, Rekha Luthra d/o Tarseem kumar, Renu devi d/o Ravi singh, Avtar singh s/o puran singh, Balwan Chand s/o Lal Chand, Tara Chand s/o gian Chand.
The scooties were provided by the J&K Rehabilitation Council under the Social Welfare Department.
During the distribution ceremony assistant commissioner revenue Jitender Mishra, Chief Medical Officer Rajinder Samyal, assistant road transport officer Rehana Tabassum besides other district officers and staff of social welfare department were also present.
