Jammu, May 18, 2026: A 35-year-old woman was allegedly murdered inside or near her residence in the Lower Kartholi area of Bari Brahmana in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Annu Singh (also referred to as Anuradha or Annu), wife of Ajay Singh. She was a resident of Lower Kartholi, Ward No. 7, Krishna Nagar, Bari Brahmana, and a mother of two children.

According to initial reports, the woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances. Police officials suspect a family dispute as the possible motive behind the killing, which occurred in broad daylight.

Police teams from Bari Brahmana Police Station reached the spot immediately after receiving information. The body was shifted for postmortem, and an FIR has been registered. Investigations are underway from all possible angles, though no arrests have been reported so far.

The incident has caused fear and outrage among local residents, who are demanding swift justice and enhanced security in the area.
