100 Days of ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir’: Massive Crackdown on Drug Network Under LG Manoj Sinha

Jammu & Kashmir, May 2026: The fight against drug abuse in Jammu & Kashmir has intensified under the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan”, as Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha highlighted the administration’s strong action against narcotics networks during the first 100 days of the campaign.

Addressing the growing concern over drug addiction and trafficking, the LG stated that the government’s strategy is focused on two major goals — breaking the drug supply chain and creating mass awareness against substance abuse, especially among the youth.

According to official figures shared by the administration, the anti-drug drive has produced significant results in recent weeks.

  • 766 FIRs have been registered against drug-related activities.
  • 856 individuals involved in narcotics cases have been arrested.
  • Around 677 kilograms of drugs have been seized during the crackdown.

The administration has also adopted a multi-dimensional approach to dismantle the drug network. Authorities are reportedly using passport verification systems, Aadhaar-linked tracking, lookout notices, financial monitoring, and demolition of illegally acquired properties connected to drug traffickers.

LG Manoj Sinha said the campaign is not only about arrests and seizures, but also about protecting the future of Jammu & Kashmir’s younger generation. He stressed that awareness campaigns are being conducted in schools, colleges, villages, and urban areas to educate people about the harmful effects of drugs.

The administration’s “Nasha Mukt” mission has witnessed active participation from the police, civil administration, educational institutions, social organizations, and local communities. Several awareness rallies, counseling sessions, and anti-drug pledge programs have been organised across districts during the 100-day drive.

Security agencies believe that narco-trafficking has emerged as a serious threat to society as well as regional stability. Officials say strict monitoring of cross-border smuggling routes and local drug peddling networks is being carried out continuously.

Many citizens and social activists have welcomed the intensified campaign, saying the strict action against drug mafias is necessary to save the youth from addiction. However, experts also emphasize that along with enforcement, rehabilitation and counseling facilities must be strengthened for addicts trying to return to normal life.

The “100 Days Nasha Mukt Abhiyan” is increasingly being seen as one of the administration’s most aggressive anti-drug initiatives in recent years, reflecting the government’s commitment to making Jammu & Kashmir drug-free through both enforcement and public awareness.
